r7al is an annual international event celebrating cinema. Founded by Lausanne-born actor Vincent Perez, the event celebrates the history of cinema with screenings of movie classics, cult movies and other treasures from the Swiss Film Archive; and welcomes renowned directors, actors and industry professionals to participate in exciting public conversations.
For its first edition, r7al will screen around forty films, inviting the audience to experience all the emotions of cinema classics thanks to high quality projections in original 35mm print format or in restored remastered versions. As well as showcasing the works of renowned directors and actors attending for talks, r7al will pay tribute to the films of the Hollywood New Wave. The films will screen in six different movie theatres, including the emblematic Capitole theatre and at the Cinematograph, the Salle Paderewski, and three Pathé theatres at Les Galeries and Flon.
r7al celebrates films past and present, showcasing cinematic innovation and bringing together all generations. r7al has established exciting collaborations and innovative cross functional projects with the canton of Vaud’s exceptional universities and schools: EPFL, ECAL, UNIL, EJMA, EHL and HEIG-VD. To this end, the event acts as a powerful springboard for creative ideas.
With the support of the city of Lausanne, the Swiss Film Archive, official partners BNP Paribas and Beau-Rivage Palace, and sponsors Piguet Galland, Pathé Suisse, Nespresso, Kering and Renault, r7al offers a new approach to film festivals and promotes Lausanne as a central podium to reflect on cinema and spark innovation.
